Thanks to contributions from the public, a hard-working committee, and labor provided by Randolph County, the 1872 Randolph County courthouse is now surrounded by over 15,000 long-lasting, energy-efficient LED Christmas lights!

The project was the brainchild and passion of Wanda Hogue, who noticed last Christmas how dark and bland our old courthouse appeared at Christmas. Several months ago Wanda formed a committee to help her make her dream come true, and the committee of Wanda, Dr. Pat Carroll, Jennifer Clay, Jim Adkins, and county judge David Jansen began regular planning and fundraising meetings.

The public responded wonderfully to the call, and over $4,000 was raised to purchase lights, extension cords, and other needed supplies.  The county workers, along with some help from the judge, Wanda, and Dr. Carroll, got most of the lighting installed last week. With about 90% of the lighting now installed, the lights were turned on tonight for the first time. The final lighting will be installed over the next week.
