Several months ago Chuck Dovish and his cameraman from the Exploring Arkansas program on the Arkansas Educational Television Network visited Randolph County to do a story on Halls Creek Canyon at Ravenden Springs. At that time, I tried to get him to drive by the Rice-Upshaw House at nearby Dalton. It’s the oldest building in the state of Arkansas. He said he didn’t have time, but would come back another time to see it.
I never heard any more about it, but was delighted to see that the newest episode of his program has a lengthy segment on the 1828 structure, at the 12 minute point of this month’s episode. Cindy Robinette and Jan Ziegler do a great job speaking about the history of the building, and its restoration. View the episode here.
